Not half empty or full,
I am unflappable,
The day washes over me like confetti waves,
The brushes are already out,
Badges I proudly wore,
Form patterns on the floor,
The mornings that turn to afternoons under duvet covers will be over soon, I’m sure,
I’m almost sure,
I’ve forgotten how to be surprised,
And I can easily think back to simpler times,
Without finding it agonising,
Even a bit,
My practised apathy can’t compete with the real thing,
Holding on tight,
Staying in control,
My knuckles white,
But not sure where to go from here,
It’s time to make a choice,
Which is the loudest voice?
I’ll take breaking apart bit by bit,
Absolutely, over the opposite,
And I hope that I’m not alone.
