The year is 2013. One of my favorite bands [REDACTED] has been broken up for two years and I am bummed, but then two dudes from that band start a new band, Post Modern Affairs. They cut a demo tape that excites me to no end and the idea of doing a 7 inch on Bloated Kat is floated my way and received with enthusiasm. The band of course immediately breaks up and the dream marriage of Post Modern Affairs and Bloated Kat is crushed.
Fast forward a few years. I can't find my copy of the tape and these songs aren't online. There's no evidence the band ever existed. My contact in the band doesn't have the songs any more. Queries are posted to obscure message boards on far flung corners of the internet. Finally, a pal comes through with the jams. Hearing them again for the first time in years, I shed a tear and how beautiful and wonderful this little flash in the pan band from Miami was. Happy, I figure that's that, and go on with my life.
But then today out of the blue, I get a text asking if I want to reissue the demo digitally for maybe the first time ever, so that it doesn't "disappear into obscurity." Way too late. But hell yes I do!
Bloated Kat Records is so deeply honored to help preserve these songs and present them to a new generation (8 years is a generation in the world of Dirt Pop) of listeners. So please, enjoy for the first time online (maybe?), Post Modern Affairs.
